Leica II (1936, CLAed in 2016 with new original curtains and new rangefinder mirror)

I love this setup. Maybe I will exchange the VIDOM for a plain 35mm viewfinder soon...

Very nice!
A SBLOO will be great. They are pretty common, so not too expensive.

My only Leica, a little Leica II from first 1932 batch, the 208th camera made. The failing vulcanite was replaced with genuine Stingray leather. Nikkor 35mm 2.5 and Minifinder.
Wow this is pretty !!!

This looks great johan!
I'm using this same lens on my II, how do you like yours?
I find the aperture ring a little fiddly, but the lens draws nice.
Who supplied the Ray leather? Very nice, especially as I am looking to replace the vinyl cover on mine.

Try this one, inexpensive, BIG VIEW, and very light:

David, the Stingray leather I bought from www.hugostudio.com. It's slightly thicker than the original vulcanite but that does not bother me at all. It looks so period correct and luxurious on the Leica II!
The Nikkor is fabulous, I really love it and I'm not even that much of a 35mm focal length guy!

Johan, with a black/nickel WINKU finder and a nickel ELMAR 35mm 11-o-clock your camera would look even better!

Erik, I have been using this finder on my II w/Nikkor 35/f2.5 and the foot has a substantial feel, and mounts firmly without any shim. With 3d printed stuff there can be variations from piece to piece though.
Looks nice, I hope that the foot does not break.

Thanks. I have a DIY Viewfinder which is bigger and brighter than any turrent viewfinder, but it's not leicaesque enough for my II. I use it on my FED 2, see https://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2826021&postcount=1286
Thanks for the recommendation, Erik. I think the SBLOO is too large for a II as a dedicated 35mm finder, it should be used on a M3 in my opinion. Maybe I will find an old metal Zeiss/Voigtänder/… vintage viewfinder which is a little bit smaller.

Erik,
you might be right but it won't happen for me I'm afraid. I'm not shooting (and writing) much anymore, a 3.5 day working week takes up all my energy...
What a lovely combination you have there, and I'm confident you'll shoot excellent images with it! I always love your photos.

Yes, cases for a III do not fit the II as there is space for the strap lugs, so they have no solid grip on a II. III's do not need a case as they have strap lugs.
By the way, cases for the II are also excellent for the I. I now have three of these cases, all in different colors. How many different colors of cases for early Leicas are there?

Nice screw mount Summaron 35/2.8. Is that the version that focuses to 0.7m?
VC minifinder might be good for that setup!

So you have the lens with a chrome f/stop ring and Johan with a black one. Interesting!

Nikon did that with most of the LTM lenses they made. The chrome aperture ring was first, and Nikon updated it to a black aperture ring around 1956-7. Nikon also dropped the red "C" for coated later on. I have two black aperture ring versions of the 35/2.5, and the earlier s/n lens has a red C while the later s/n lens doesn't. Lots of small variations.
