Leica LTM Show off your Leica I/II/III/LTM Camera

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Well,

Here are my two most recent additions ( does 3 months count as recent?).

Leica 1c from 1930 in the 566xx serial range, and a IIIc to IIIf BD conversion - yes, it's a "stepper", and the serial # is bang in the middle of the red-curtain range, but I think they were replaced when it was converted.

Both work very well, but I suspect the IIIf may have some film chips in the gearing somewhere - there is a certain lumpiness on the first wind from cold, and the vulcanite across the front of the body is in about 14 pieces of different sizes, but well stuck down.

Here is mine. It is a 1954 III F (so red dial) fitted here with a FED 50/3.5. The other lens in the background is a Canon 135/3.5 that I do not use very much (I would prefer a 85 or 90 mm). Since I shot this, I also bought some other lenses:
- Black Jupiter 8 50/2
- Black Jupiter 12 35/2.8
- Leica Summaron 35/3.5
- Canon 50/1.2

OFF TO CLA!!!! ~ My Latest Leica IIIC K Grey Paint US Army Issue from May 8th 1945

OFF TO CLA!!!! ~ My Latest Leica IIIC K Grey Paint US Army Issue from May 8th 1945

#3904xx K just arrived in the mail yesterday from California, and is now again on it`s way to Youxin Ye for a full overhaul, CLA and new Beamsplitter/ Curtains etc.
(The "K" curtain`s long gone....years ago!)

Another interesting series number (mid range #400 series) and one of the first Leica`s ever sold to the US Army, this one only 12 hours after the official surrender of the Germans to the Allies on May 8th 1945.

Will be back within two weeks, and will be one of the last cameras Youxin does for a while, he`ll be in China all of June, so I really am lucky to have caught the final repair appointment :D

Photos again after the CLA and samples from it`s first shooting as well....

Enjoy!

After a year of using FSU rangefinders and throughly enjoying myself I have decided to 'upgrade' and have had a very nice weekend playing with my 'new ' IIIg. I went for the g mainly for the excellent viewfinder and in practice it does indeed work very well with a 50. Currently my lenses are FSU , Jupiter 3 and Orion 15 but I am now looking for a CV Ultron 35 and 28-35 minifinder. My old FED 2 I will keep and continue to use as its a great camera even next to Leica but the Fed 3 has hit ebay. I umm'd and arrh'd about whether the expense would be worth it when a cheap FSU is still capable of taking great shots but now I have one and have used it in anger the difference is clear. Its down to old Ford versus Mercedes, the portable radio versus the HiFI its about ease of use and the feeling of quality. Its a pleasure to use and the faster shutter speed are a great bonus. hmmm money well spent I think.

Hi Erik,

Nice pictures of a very nice camera. Your lighting catches the patina very well. I find it amazing that these older cameras oftem have good vulcanite. This one is 5X,XXX? I see that you, like me suffer from missing release collars (We've discussed this before).

I've heard talk of a fim advance knob that is shallower or less tall than normal, do you have anything that would illustrate this?

Michael

A recent snapshot of my Leica IIIf RD ST with Leica LTM Summarit 50mm f/1.5 lens, it's for me the most beautiful camera I've ever used ;-)
