Buzzardkid--really excellent camera and a REALLY great photo.
Thanks for posting.
Where does the name "buzzardkid" come from?
We have buzzards here in the South US--but they are--well--buzzards--scavengers.
You know--not nice birds!
Paul
Ha!
In fact it's a slightly too loose translation: in NL we know a bird called 'buizerd', it's a bird of prey, not a vulture. You ornithologists probably know the English name for it.
I grew up on the Buizerdstraat in my home town.
As I'm always wearing black, if I'd be any scavenger it would most likely be a crow...

Errr.... "Common Buzzard" or Buteo buteo = Buizerd...

buzzardkid--thanks for the info!
Actually--buzzards--vultures--down here are a protected species.
I guess they were one of the original "enviro-birds"---
Valuable to the overall plan...

Worn out and brassed to hell and back. Still works though.
That is a pretty nice first post! Congrats! Welcome to the forum!
This looks like a camera that was on eBay last week, but it had a Jupiter-8 with it then!? Or am I mistaking...?

Thanks for the welcome!
And I can't deny it, it is the same one. I found a nice Elmar for a cheap price, and decided to pair it with the II and keep it.
No doubt I annoyed the 30+ watchers after I pulled the listing. Sorry!

Ha! Easy as pie: You owe me one!
Can't help but noticing: is the vulcanite tight on the front? Looks like it might be loose a bit. A syringe with needle can deliver some superglue behind it to glue it down.

I've noticed that in the image too, strangely enough the vulcanite is dead flat all around the body!

I must say that I am impressed about the barnak camera, it is just a joy to use, even when I own an M6 and an M2 I end up looking for the iiif just for the experience of shooting it.

I've been looking for a IIIf RD ST 1954 (my vintage) at a decent price for ages (190€ body only), and here it is at last. Arrived yesterday from 120 miles away. I cleaned the outside thoroughly with metal cleaner, removed the grime from the knurled buttons with tooth picks. Apart from two dings on the top plate, brassing on the slow speeds and rewind knobs as well as various scuff marks on the top plate, it looks pretty cool and decent to me with its griptack cover. Range-finder is spot on, viewfinder clean as a whistle. Eye cup looks new.
The shutter needed to be exercised though. It didn't sound quite right and slow speeds were sticking. Must have been sitting idle for quite some time. Several actuations at the various speeds got it to work as it should smooth wind on and silent action. Timer works alright. Hope the curtains are light tight. They look clean and in good shape. My 1955 Zorki 1 is perfectly sound, so I expect a Leica to be at least as good... If a CLA is really needed. I know a competent guy in Bordeaux who works for fair prices. But I hope I'll be lucky again. I'll post some pics in the gallery when I've put my first roll through it.

I have been a member of this forum for a while now, but have never posted, over the years I have owned a number of "M" Leica's but it's been a quite a few years since I have owned a Leica, till a few days ago when I picked up this LTM 1936 Leica III with a 50mm Summar lens, everything seems to work except the slow shutter speeds, ( shutter stays open, until button is released ) I would guess it needs a CLA. The lens and camera body have been together for 75 years ( it came with a E. Leitz import certificate from Great Britain )
