You could try DAG - Don had some original Leitz blocks that were designed to lift the external RF above the other stuff on the top plate. I haven't checked his site recently, but they were something like $50.

I'm cheap, so I use a hotshoe to PC socket converter by Hama 😉

Hahaha, yeah. I've been eyeing one of those HAMA adapters as well. Saw one at the camera fair in Houten, but couldn't find the stand again afterwards. D'oh!

About to purchase my 4th war-time IIIc Stepper body from a fellow re-enactor/collector.

About to close the deal on it. 1941/42 black curtain IIIc 'stepper'. Some brassing on the bottom plate. Dual language markings ( German & English ) on the film door lock. And a crack running along the rear of the vulcanite that appears to have been repaired.
Could probably do with a CLA. The Summar appears to be in good condition too.

It refers to the little 'step' under the rewind switch on the Wartime IIIc models. Later models don't have this.

Just replaced the beamsplitter on my earliest 1932 Leica II myself and I cannot believe how beautifully these cameras are made: I'd never done this before and was done with the whole thing in under an hour! Everything fits beautifully and even a small black metal square cover on the end of the RF housing had such a tightly matched fit that at first I did not recognize it as a cap at all 😱

Anyway, this is it now:

Early uncoated nickel Elmar 50/3.5 and 1939 uncoated chrome/black paint Elmar 90/4.0. Black paint Helios finder that offers 35, 85 and 135 brightline frames.

Next, I'm gonna bulkload my two Leica 1A cassettes and tomorrow I will be out shooting!

It's an absolute shocker. I had to wear 😎, that's how bright it is.

It's as if the camera is new. No, really. the other mirror in the assembly could use replacement as well, but it's perfectly usable now!


Come as early as you like tomorrow, seems I only got time until 16.30 or thereabouts (getting dark then anyway...)

A few years ago I was talking with a close friend's dad, Mr P., and he mentioned he had a Leica, a IIIC and a 50 mm lens he wasn't sure of which one, that he hadn't used for years. I mentioned that if there ever was a chance I'd like to look at it. Unfortunately he passed away earlier this year before we had time to get together. Fast forward to now and while cleaning things out my friend and his mom found the camera. Mrs P. called me up and said if I dropped by it was mine if I wanted it. While I shoot very little 35mm who's going to say no to a Leica?

The camear is in very nice shape and the lens is a clean Summar. Serial number for the camera puts in the 1947-1948 group and the serial number for the lens is for 1937. Rangefinder is ok in bright enough light and every seems to move as it should.

Mr P. had engraved his name and other info on the top plate near the serial number and a couple of other places ( I've blurred it out in the attached photo) so that reduces the value enough so I don't feel guilty about "stealing" a valuable family heirloom. I also scanned a number of older images for Mrs P. (and will be doing more) to keep my karma in balance.

I've run a roll of Provia I had in the fridge through it, but the lab screwed up and lost everything. Shutter sounded like it was changing when I changed the speed so it might work. There's a roll of Tri-x in it now I'll soup myself.
