Currently I only have FSU lenses (like this Industar 50), but I hope to catch some real Leitz glass, coated & uncoated The camera works perfectly, except the 1/1000 speed, which seems to not engage properly, at least in the knob.

I like it a lot. Huge view, and it agrees almost exactly with the bright lines in my M2.
I got it mostly because I love projects, and want to encourage any small business making things that are well thought out.
I also got it for the Leica Standard when wearing a 35 lens, and the Zorki 1 wearing the same.
There is a compromise though, the Standard's native viewfinder is a bit in the way, so I will remove it, and tape over the holes when I go out with the 35.
Nice! How do you like the viewfinder?

Beautiful old II, Mike ! I have s/n 77xxx with an 11 o'clock nickel Elmar, s/n 999xx.

🙂

This camera was in the same family for eighty-five years before I bought it, passed down from father to son for five generations. It is a little sad that the current generation found it to be expendable. I suppose that many fine old things have a similar bittersweet provenance.

A true beauty; of all Leica's I like the old black two's the most

My IIIg with un-coated 5cm f3.5 Elmar next to my IIIc 'stepper' with un-coated 5cm f2 Summar, sporting a SBOOI finder🙂

I absolutely love the SBOOI finder. I agree that it's incredibly bright and makes framing shots so easy. Actually it's almost a necessity when using the Canon lens with the proper shade because the shade blocks out nearly half of the built-in finder.

thats the problem with shades, mind you when my Nokton 5omm 1.5 is mounted to my leicas it blocks out the viewfinder in the same way as a shade

I took the viewfinder off my standard so the Voigtlander finder for my 21mm or 25mm would fit on. No need to tape over the holes just put the screws back in

I would use the screws if they weren't countersunk oval-head screws. The edges stand up high of the top and catch on things, and if one got lost... well, I like black rubber tape for the grip it gives.
