Yes it´s a pitty, otoh it was a real cheap flea market find (CLA´d it myself and even baked the leatherette back on!) and I guess it´s more of a user now since I wouldn´t take a 50mm out on a rangefinderless body but the 21 is perfect!

regarding the finder, i didn´t think of this before but you´re right! the CV finder won´t mount with the original in place...scewing it off won´t hurt thou and you can´t loose it as a bonus (or even sell it at a ridiculous price at Ebay..look what FSU Leica standard clone finders fetch...oh my!)

oh.. and ash, your black Standard looks wonderfull!! (brassy and all, love it!)

Thanks, I really would like to touch up where there's paint loss, but I'm afraid it'll look worse. I also misplaced my super-small paint brushes! I don't think I'd remove or sell the finder, it's crystal-clear, possibly one of the best assets of the camera. Worse to worst, it'd go on the IIIc!!

If only there were flea markets around here that I could pick up beauties like your standard at!


I'm currently using a 50mm, it's my challenge to get some sharp images with it 😀

Mine has no windows (no finders) at all. Here is a photo of the Standard along side the M3 and M6.
