still no luck posting photo straight from Macbook
Ahoy, earthling! Being from earth you are thinking "drag and drop".
This is a foreign land. Posting photos can be done but it requires the "special knowledge".
Please do a search for "how the #%#! do you post a photo here on RFF", and you will be led to the special knowledge.

One way to post is to upload your photo to anothr site, like photobucket or flickr, and use the generated "BBCode" entry
if you click on reply to a post with a photo in it, you can see where it is hosted and how the embedding works
for example mine - replace with your own link or URL, remove the quotes and enter all characters on one line :

Fantastic, Maitani. I had the plastic hood, case and box once. But sold it quickly, as I thought it way too risky to own or use the plastic hood. One crack and it becomes worthless.
But I measured it completely, to help with the Tom A aluminum hood project.
I still have one of his original hoods.

for now it's not broken fortunately, but you're right, one needs to be careful with it.
i'd love an original alumium hood as backup or one of Tom's too, but they are hard to impossible to find. mostly i use a low profile 'Walz' filter if i remember right, which Ned had included, it's the much better hood for practical use, but the original hood for sure is 'impressive' to look at.

I got my SP from Al too!
Coincidentally, ive narrowed down my body to March of 58' (my birth month, how cool!) and belonging to the second batch of SP's. It still has its original silk curtains.
Al's a great seller and a pleasure to deal with.
Not sure of the year mine was from, but guaranteed it's well after my birth year
Where are the S/N - year data to be found?

Lovely set! I don't remember ever seeing a hood with the E.P. marking before. Its the standard Nikon hood shape though, rather than vented. I don't think Nikon made an actual vented hood for the Nikkor 50/1.4. Walz did at the time and it looks like this:

"vented" refers to the cut-outs that allow you to see through the hood when looking through the camera's viewfinder.

This case will marr the original black paint trims on the vertical edges of the camera body. Get the original S2 one, the very well padded model with the two "descenders" on each side.

indeed, it makes a great daily shooter.
Yes, but then you'll need a 35mm viewfinder.
Erik.
