A few years ago at a sale, I picked up an old 'baby' Speed Graphic, with a few cut film holders, - which are inconvenient for use now, to say the least!. I have now grafted-on the back from a broken Mamiya Press camera, and can use the 6x9 roll film holder, and ground glass screen. It just does focus to infinity, and is pretty good for extreme close ups!. Anyone else into this kind of surgery/butchery? 🙂

Here is a plastic lens from a disposable camera, I fitted on my LTM. Unfortunately, it is too sharp so I'm getting one from an Instamatic soon to hack on. Right now, I'm finishing a lens made from a Brownie Hawkeye lens and a 6x7 Pentax body cap for my Pentax6x7.

I have not done major surgery on cameras for a long time. [I used to make little things for wooden 4x5, and mono-rail repro-cameras. However, I do have a body of knowledge of techniques and material sources...and some esoteric tools and stockpiles of bits and pieces on hand...in case I want to do so again.

Lately, I have been thinking about grafting a CCD chip from a damaged digital camera body [with associated circuit boards, battery and SD memory chip] onto a butt-ugly Vietnam-special Nikon F2 I have on hand. 😀

Perhaps we could start a thread.

I like a little old fashion blur at the edges and softness in the center. Everyone else is buying the sharpest most contrasty lens they can find but I'm looking for a 'mad scientist' lens.

Keith, the Uke, I play it all the time. I have many solo tunes I play.

Yes, off OT, lenses from the 20-30s with new films, could be a trend. Great, I mounted the Brownie Hawkeye lens on the 6x7 and it is a go for tomorrow. We will see. I can't use the TTL meter with this lens. At least I don't think I can, maybe I'll have to resort to reading the manual.

I depend on Brian Sweeney for my hybrid lenses. So far, I have a Luxon 50mm/2LTM [Braun Paxette lens], a Sonnar 5cm 2.0 LTM, a Sonnar Opton 50mm/1.5 LTM, an I61L in Contax mount, a Menopta in Contax mount, and finally in the works, a Zeiss Jena pre-war 5cm 1.5 LTM.

Darren, I'll post a picture this afternoon. But I used the Brownie Hawkeye lens, 6x7 Pentax cap, 1 inch sprinkler threaded coupler, 1 inch gray threaded PVC connector. I also used two part epoxy and a little balsa wood. I used the threaded pieces because I have two Hawkeye lenses one in the correct orientation and the other is flipped for greater distortion.

No, I used the graflex based camera for the mountain and pond shots.
I used this one recently in newport beach for the pier shots now on flickr.

I can't remember where I got the hole for this one. I now splurge and get holes from Lenox Laser.

I received a Kodak Vest Pocket Model B for 127 film rolls last year.A Nikon to m4/3 adapter on the rear of the film chamber makes it another Frankenlens for my G1:
