Thanks for the nice words. Those are easily my two favourites from this lens; I've mostly been testing it out, really. But it has really nice colour rendition, too, so once the weather improves I plan on shooting some slides with it and seeing how it handles that.

I've had the J11 for about a month, too, and I know what you mean about slow focusing - the travel from the minimum focus of 2.5m to infinity on the J11 takes what seems like forever. But the biggest effect it's had on me is that I'm now PETRIFIED of f4. I look down at the depth of field scale whenever I'm in low light, see how tight I have to be on focusing and panic a little bit. I've only had a few outright fails so far, but I'm always cautious of it.

I hear you on f/4 being ridiculously shallow at this focal length. My next longest lens is just a 50mm, so the difference is quite pronounced. If I have enough light, I like to stop down to f/5.6 for portraits at minimum focus distance with the 135. I think the shot of my daughter above was at 5.6 or 8. Can't remember. For flower close-ups I like f/8 as a minimum, and still do a fair bit of swaying back and forth to make sure I'm in focus.

I'm looking forward to using this for landscapes and architectural details too, but not had a chance yet.

Coldkennels, stick with that J-11, it looks to me like you're doing well with it - I like the second shot especially.

My LTM J-11 came at the bargain price of £15, with a perfectly-working and clean FED 3b thrown in! I've just bought a Kiev version too, the roll is unfinished so it'll be interesting to compare and see if the Kiev's wider RF makes for better focus accuracy.

Canon P + J-11

Got mine for $12/shipped from a US eBay seller over 5 years ago. FWIW,
I use it more than the Hektor 135/4.5 because it's more compact, lighter and a tad faster.

The threads for other Jupiter lenses have been doing well enough, but the J-11 doesn't seem to be getting much love lately. Perhaps in part because it is an insane sort of lens to use on a rangefinder? Anyway, here are a few test shots from my newly acquired specimen. Shot with Kiev-4 on Polypan F at E.I. 100, developed in Rodinal 1:100.

First one in somewhat dim light at f/4 and 1/25 s, so it's a bit shaky:

Looking to me like a promising lens; I just need a good deal of practice to get the feel for framing, which is less than easy.

Hi -- just returned here after a while.
This is a J-11 mounted on a Zorki-3, with a turret viewer. The parallax was off (getting used to that as well). But you can see that when adjusted, this is an amazing lens.
