i think i need a magnifier as well. sometimes i lose the RF patch and sometimes in poor light i am not quite sure if i have accurate focus.

I find I lose the RF patch more often with my Ikon than I do with my Hexar. The Ikon is definitely superior in low light but it's every bit as sensitive to eye position or maybe more so than the Hexar for keeping the patch aligned for contrast!

Lenses with short focus travel are easier to focus with the Hexar (see Dante Stella's homepage), e.g. my Summicron-C. You need an adapter to use the magnifier designed for Leica (screw-in magnifier for the M6/M7/MP) with the Konica (megaperls has this adapter). I ordered one myself today and will give it a try....

Don't worry, you'll be very happy with it. I have one and it does the job nicely.

Maddoc, if you have a chance, try the Hexanon 50 F1.2. Amazing test!! As good if not better than Noctilux in term of sharpness IMHO, although I like Noctilux much more for B+W. In fact, Hexanon lens are the finest from Japanese optic co. Also, the Hexanon F1.2 is easier to focus comparing to Noct. Something you might want to consider if you have a Hexar body. By the way, the price of limited 50 F1.2 is still reasonable, get one while you can. Saw one on ebay for 2300 two weeks ago.

The Hexar 50/1.2 is for sure tempting and more is the 60/1.2. But at the moment I am very happy with the Noctilux. Focusing is challenging, especially with the Hexar, but - as you state - for BW the Noctilux simply rocks !! :)

Get it before they all disappear!

Hacker, Why do you need TWO Noctilux + TWO 60 F1.2. I am guessing you also have a summilux ASPHERICAL. By the way, I also had a 60 F1.2 before, but sold it after using both Noctilux and the limited Hexanon 50 F.1.2. Don't really like the extra viewfinder.

It seems that they already have all disappeared ... straight into your collection :D That is impressive !! BTW, why two (!!) 50/1.0 ??:eek::eek:

To be very exact. For example, even a chrome and black Sonnar must be tested, with and without built in hood and extra hood. I know that the earlier Hex 50s have the focus issues, but later numbers do not. So one early number against one late number. With and without coding is also tested.

And sometimes, just to be sure, even some models are compared like the Leica 40mm lenses (Summicron vs Elmarit):

Or the modern Nikkor against the older LTM version:

Will post more pictures, but it takes time to pack and unpack. Black paint vs chrome, vs this and that. More for fun than anything. Some are borrowed lenses, so they are not mine, but sometimes, it becomes mine, and sometimes, my stuff becomes other people's stuff.

Not to be too picky - but I thought this is a Konica thread. What your Rollei, Nikkor, Leica etc, doing here, I'm not sure. ;) But if you post Hexanons - I'm always happy to see that!. Well, actually even more so - pictures TAKEN WITH THEM, not pics of the lenses!. ;)

Question on why double lenses (Noc and others are quoted, and they are non Hexanons also). Answer is a generic one.

Been a bit bored - weather sucks, so I thought I'd take a pic or two of my Hexar family:

Another member here on RFF - Tim Barker has it now. I sold it as I felt I prefer other 35mm better - my CV 35/1.2 for most things and than I got M-Hexanon 35/2 for a smaller alternative.

@krosya - its a small world. because i have tim barker's uc-hex. so he picked up yours afterwards. as long as it stays in the family! ; )

Krosya: I doth feel your pain. Had to borrow my downstairs-neighbor's mountain bike to ride over to do a tech gig (didn't have studded tires on my most-rugged skinny-tired bike) to dash through the ice 'n snow with. Had a little camera packed with me, but nothing worth pulling it out for.

My Hexars are idle for the moment. Good to know they're around, though.
