It's been a while since I posted anything here but I seem to be having a rekindled romance with my OM-2 at the moment. I also just bought a 35mm f2 Zuiko for it from a forum member which should be here in a week or so!

I love this OM-2 ... It's more than a match for any camera I own and it's been travelling with me every day lately and supplying me with some memorable pics.

It looks damned sexy in it's Luigi case and is a little easier to shoot with ... it gives the camera a little more bulk and makes it easier to hold.

Did I mention I love it? :p :p

:| you got a luigi case for your OM2? You must really love it!!! looks beautiful

It's actually a case for an M2 which I got off FrankS a while ago. The strap lugs don't quite line up but that doesn't matter as I don't really like or use straps much.

It makes you realise what a little camera the Om-2 is ... I had to pack the bottom of the case with some cardboard to stop the camera sitting too low. Aside from that It fits like a glove and feels great in the hands.

I think this camera may be the best $50.00 I ever spent ... it deserves a little pampering! :p

Keith - that is indeed a very good looking $50.

I use the brown case from a Cosina CT1. Not quite as sleek, but a good fit on an OM1.

Keith: I had my OM-2 out for shooting yesterday (using the 21-35 Sigma with the now-correctly-oriented permanent hood). Much as I've developed a general distaste for SLRs/dSLRs, this camera, my only SLR, has gradually made its way back on the "active" list, which to me is a rather big deal. Much as I prefer the black finish of mine, looking at yours reminds me of just how handsome it looks in chrome...and I definitely don't feel that way about most cameras.

Good to hear you also scored a 35 for it. You're going to get some serious mileage out of that combo.

The OM is a little like the Hexar compared to other rangefinders ... and I know you're a Hexar man. It's a cut above the average SLR and can appeal to someone who doesn't really even want this type of camera. Sometimes when I use it I think ... "why would you want anything else?"

I picked it up and started shooting with it again for the first time in ages a few weeks back and I'm truly amazed at just how good it is!

If I had to have one rangefinder and one SLR the choice would be fairly easy. :p

My Kiev got tired of playing in the grass and grew a two foot long nose. Actually the guys at the camera shop sold me a beautiful Meyer Optic Gorlitz Telemegor 300/4.5 and an entire set of P6 extension rings for an price I couldn't refuse. I'm really starting the like this old Kiev. It seems to magically heal itself. So far, on its own, its fixed a loose prism finder, a grindy advance lever, and a broken frame counter. I'm sure the auto stop-down mechanism will be fixed in a few days.

Just my new 1969 nikon F FT with a nice early 43-86mm.according to mir.com "Within its zooming range of 43mm to 86mm, the sharpest image is obtained at the focal length of 60mm and focused distance of about 3 meters or 10 feet."..."Note: According to Nikon Handbook by Peter Braczko, he believes serial number from 438611 to 554261 are the first version and may fetch a higher premium than series that followed later".
Seems to be a great lense.
I don't know how to properly use the FT meter, should i set the iso every time i change the speed?

Ok, time to post my new and only SLR.

Meet Zenit-7. Fairly rare camera (only 3000 were made), predating Zenit-E by several years. Unlike its much more common successor, this camera has automatic aperture, breech lock bayonet (accepting included M42 and M39/SLR adapter rings), full scale of speeds from 1 to 1/1000 of a second and 1/125 flash synch (!). It has classic curtain type shutter. Also, very nice ratcheted film advance, something I found not very common in SLR world.

The camera is big, well made (on par with e.g Nikkormats or Spotmatics). The standard lens has meter coupling lugs on aperture ring for accessory meter that never appeared.

Also got a nice early MTO 500 along with it. Although this kit could fetch some $300 on eBay, I got it for free - as a present from relative who is a retired optical engineer.
