I´ve just gone and done a cardinal sin and bought a camera of the ebay, crossing my fingers its going to turn up and in good working condition. A Kowa Super 66 with standard Kowa 85/f2.8 lens. I´ll post a picture of the actual camera when it arrives, but it should look something like this:

I still say that has one of the best-looking vertical grips of any SLR.

This Canon T70 was a gift. I carry it around a lot, and tend to use it with Pro 400H. It's currently wearing a 50mm f/1.4—which is valuable as diamonds to me—but I have a 24mm f/2.8 for more all-encompassing street shots, as well.


This Olympus Pen FV was discovered in the collection of an antique camera and watch dealer. Everything about it is perfect. The yellowing of the radioactive Zuiko lens makes it well suited to b&w photography, so it tends to have Tri-X in it.


That's it, so far. I really want something MF (Hassy? Mammy? Kiev...y?) soon so I can blow through some of this old 120 Kodachrome before it's too late.

I saw one of those in a shop recently, I like the profile, but it was a whole lot bigger than I expected it to be. It really is an imposing camera, wow!

I always thought they were hideous and a ridiculous waste of size/weight without the benefit of a built-in winder.

Then i met a pro photojournalist at PhotoVillage who was carrying two of them. He tried to convince me of the merits, but i still would have none of it. It wasn't until months later that i folded a bit and allowed myself to hold one... and, well, i bought one soon after and my opinion about the aesthetics changed completely.

Nikon FE2 + Gordy Strap

FE2 with a Gordy strap. I'm amazed at how much i like to use this camera. More than the F100, even though i with it had an exposure lock coupled with the shutter release button instead of a switch on the front.... Great viewfinder, perfect size. It's a little gem.

If the R9 had a built in motor winder and AF I'd buy one. They look great.

Want a good laugh? The R9 was supposed to have had a built in motor drive with no thumb advance, like every top notch newish SLR in existence (think F6)? What happened? Worried executives feared a backlash from the traditional audience (sound familiar???) and they quickly added a thumb advance. It's a pity that seemingly any "advance" from Leica is met with such resistance, but oh well.

Pity, the size would have been great with an internal winder and the shutter release wouldn't be in it's current "odd" position.

Something my grandfather dropped off last month.

Grandad: I heard you are getting back into photography.
Me: Yep.
Grandad: I have an old camera I have not used in a real long time. When I find it I will give it to you.

1 year later he shows up at my mother's house- we all meet up for dinner and he pulls this out of a bag- original receipts, original boxes, even every battery he ever used in the meter and detailed records of how long each battery lasted. Spent batteries were sealed back into their blister packs with their usage history written on the back of each pack. He even had the original advertisement from the newspaper classified from when he bought the camera (used) sometime in the late 1960's.
