Here's the front view of the set. From left to right: Zeiss Flektogon 50/f4, Zeiss Sonnar 180/f2.8, and the beautiful and underappreciated Vega-12 90/f2.8. Not the best picture, my digicam has seen better days. :)

For comparison I've put in a 35mm film canister. Did I mention these things are huge?

the 58mm Rokkor MC PG 1.2

just a big beautiful piece of glass

got it for just around 100 dollars, the focus is slightly stiff but the results are just exactly what I was hoping for

I'm impressed by the lack of DSLR pics...(and I know there are a couple, just not a lot)

DSLR's just don't have "it".
Try to take a picture of a DSLR that will make people want one just because of the looks, not the features. Good luck.

It's the only SLR I've owned during the last 12 years ... the frame finder is great on planes and boats, where the WLF is not so useable.

Are you using the 65mm square hood on your 50mm/f4 Flektogon? Do you get vignetting?
I don't get vignetting. I bought the hood separately; as far as I know it's the one for the 50/f4 Flektogon, and it's identical to the one or two other Flektogon hoods I've seen. If it is the model for the old 65/f2.8 Flektogon, then it doesn't vignette anyway.

The hoods can be difficult to find. The lens has a 86mm filter thread, the hood has a 95mm thread, and you need an M86/95 step-up ring to use the hood. Then again, the Flektogon does profit quite a bit from the hood, and with the square format on a 50mm lens it is easy to get bright light sources where they shouldn't be, so the hood is definitely a good idea.

Pete I just bought X-300/370 Seagull clone, DF-300, for 40$ in great condition... as new... I would even dare to say new!

Hi Philipp,

Could you measure the inside diameter, corner to corner, of you hood? Thanks.

Jason.

That is great!!! Mine was a hand me down from my grandfather

It is surprisingly small and light; though with that 58mm 1.2 it gains some significant weight and bulk... but its worth it

Wide open its a little soft but has that amazingly dreamy quality to it

Is that seagull in A-mount?

Pete and Grainy: The camera is complete Minolta clone, in fact it's made by Minolta license and with same old tools that were "sold" to seagull. I didn't have opportunity to see the real one but It's probably a little better quality wise.
While the lens is obviously cheap. :) I'm waiting for 50/1.4 Minolta.
I now just have to find more lenses, something wide and tele! :)
I was outbided on ebay for 24-35mm it went for 88$... (and I left max bid on 80 :) )

My old F1 is infinitely more photogenic than any of its newer (D)SLR siblings, but it just hasn't seen much use in recent years due to its ugly step-sisters. :(

What year production? And is that an FTN prism?
Thanks!

It's amazing how many of them still work after 35 years. Compare it with Canon EF, Pentax ES, Rolleiflex SL35ME - all these first gen. AE-SLRs were heavy and big as brickstones. The computerized FE, AE-1 and ME stuff need 5 more years to come

Not really. The OM-2 came out in 1975.
