Yes it performs nicely, with its Helios 81 lens and the still-working selenium meter.However, it is quite sensitive and no repairman wants to touch it. Last time the shutter jammed I had to have it repaired at the factory (Kiev's Arsenal): very inexpensive repair but very complicated procedure to have there and back...

Seems that I've a natural affinity with Olympus ever since I received my first camera.

Love the styling, petite body, viewfinder & handling of the OM SLRs - almost like a Leica

But time and again I'm blown away by the images from the X-700 & Rokkor lenses. Especially the much underated 135mm f3.5 - Lecia characteristics at an unbelievably affordable price.

Thanks for the comments. You are right that XD is the same camera as XD11 and XD7. Just different names for different markets.

The yellow leather kit came from Ashi-ashi. Quite a nice fit.

Here are two shots of my EXA IIb and my AE-1 (it has a chrome-nose 50/1.4 mounted on it at the moment). Ironically, these were all taken with my Canon 20D sporting my Sigma 150mm/2.8 macro lens.

OK it's digital, but see the lens? f1.4 Super Takumar at an effective 100mm FL.

With simple, cheap, adaptors I can use all the M42 lenses, Olympus OM, Leica R, Minolta MD Rokkors etc. It's wonderful, this vast wealth of lenses all available, often at silly cheap prices.

The Oly e510 is especially good because the live view zoom allows for critrical focussing which is often difficult on autofocus viewing screens.

This one was bought from "Alex photo goods" on Ebay, and is in almost mint condition.

Mike, I'm dying to know if the image stabilizer work with manual lenses?

Fortunately that would be something that is easy to verify because of the digital's instant nature.

Those Asahiflex cameras are really small. The XA is a bit taller than the Asahiflex shoulder.

Oh dear, Now I want an Asahiflex. I was once interested in looking for a 35mm camera with a WLF but the Exakta, Nikon and Canon SLRs were all too big.

Do you know of any other small 35mm cameras with Waist-level-finders?

I think the Asahiflex is the smallest. It is a very nicely built camera, the size of a Leica screwmount, with a great WLF an a direct view finder on top. The only problem is that its lensmount is 37mm screw type. The registration distance is the same as M42 lenses but the diameter is 5mm smaller. Very few lenses available, no real wide angle 🙁 The Takumar 58/2.4 is a 5 element 3 group lens of Heliar type, which exhibits the very nice rendering of Heliar lenses. Here are some samples taken with this gear on Efke 25:

OK - I'll jump in. Here is my new 40D plus 17-55 2.8 IS. A remarkable lens -- with three stops of IS, in principle you can shoot wide angle handheld at 1/3 s.

With a long lens this will be my safari rig, but IQ is good enough that I will probably use it more than my previous digital SLRs.

As others have been talking about the Flex's, this is probably the most scarce. The Tower 24 was a re-badged Asahiflex IIB badged fr the US Market. Towards the end Asahi ran out of IIB shells and a few were made using some leftover IIA bodyshells with the slow speed dial hole blanked off.
