Show us your SLR ..... WHAT?

Your wife has good taste. The EOS-1 is the autofocus film camera I use along with my digital Canons. I don't like the external battery pack though. Makes the camera too heavy.

The camera came with the power booster. I had no options there. I am used to the T90, so the EOS-1 is quite similar.

The Rolleiflex SLR cameras are very complicated in design, and many known repair people refuse to work on them. My local camera repairman does not mind working on any camera. I would buy a SL35 with Zeiss 50/1.8 and just try it out for a year. I bet, you will get more lenses.

Stay away from the SL35E which often has electronics failure. The SL35M is ugly but works well. I sold mine at low cost. The 50/1.8 may be sharper than the 50/1.4. There is also the 55/1.8 or 55/1.4 by Rolleinar. It is nearly as good as the Zeiss lens. I also have a Tamron adaptall mount for mounting Tamron manual focus lenses on Rolleiflex bodies.

This is one of my favorite SLR outfits. A Rolleiflex SL35 with a 35mm Zeiss Distagon. It is shown with the Zeiss Planar 85mm/1.4, Zeiss Distagon 35mm/1.4, and Zeiss Planar 50mm/1.4.

Wow, if I have these, I'd be done :)
Trying to get these lenses in their C/Y mount would cost too much!

If I could somehow have these lenses changed to M42 mount, that would be great. I wonder what the specs are for the Rollei mount relative to other SLR system mounts.

There was a long article on these cameras and lenses in Shutterbug magazine many years ago [by Bob Shell]. He mentioned that this was an inexpensive way to use Zeiss lenses. I immediately ordered through Shutterbug the lenses and cameras. There was no internet.

IMHO, the most reliable Rolleiflex is the SL 35. I believe SL35M and SL35ME were Voigtlander designs when Rollei bought over them. But somehow I feel that the shutter of the SL35 feels much better. The only issue is the SL35 needs 1.35V cell for the meter, and u will need a hot shoe adaptor as most of them do not come with build in hot shoe.

Mike, I'm dying to know if the image stabilizer work with manual lenses?

Fortunately that would be something that is easy to verify because of the digital's instant nature.

It does with M42 and K mount lenses on the K10d. Works great. The K10d has an input for you to put in the lens length, and it adjusts the stablizer to work for that focal length. Not as useful for zooms though.

Here's my F90x. May look best with a 50, but is actually the most fun with a manual focus 17.. almost turns it into a happy snap camera.

I know, isn't it infuriating, the M42 and C/Y has excellent bodies but the lenses are mega-expensive, on the opposite side, Rollei and Exakta allow us to use Zeiss glasses for cheap but their bodies are either not good or hard to repair when broken.

I bought a Canon A1 when they first came out but didn't keep it long. Not because it wasn't a good camera, but because I was spoiled by the much smoother film advance of the Nikon FM. It just didn't feel as "quality" as the Nikon. No complaints with the picture quality, though. The FD lenses are great.

I agree, and I found this camera also a too heavy weight and quite noisy; but that may be also true for the Nikons....

I sold my A1 that I bought new, and then many years later, I bought one again used.

Lucky you could buy one new, I had no money at the time (student) so had to wait for a first second hand (which is the one in the pic). What I really liked were the quality FD lenses and its digi lightmeter

Ron,

Yes, I was lucky to buy as a graduate student a new A1 followed by a new F1N. The FD lenses were undervalued then and they are now extremely cheap,as you know. I have FD lenses from 7.5mm to 500mm.

Just got this for my brithday, shot a roll of SFX today before sunset. It handles wonderfully!
