I never really like the CLE, the CL always felt better to me. Eh? In the day, I had a CL and it was my favorite m-mount camera for a time.

I've future proofed myself for film cameras now. Two Hassy 500CMs, Voigtländer Perkeo II, a brace of Minox IIIS and B, and four nice Kodak Retina IIc/IIIc as well as the Leica M4-2, a Leicaflex SL and a Leica R6.2, the Nikon F... Don't need, or want, anything else. I could shoot with any of these for the rest of my Time.

This probably comes from the same place in my brain that says no new music after ~1985 is any good, but it does seem to me that cameras were more gorgeous then. I just acquired an original OM-1 (not 'n') in black paint without a mark on it. It makes me go weak at the knees to look at it.
 
Yes, each camera was distinct in its appearance - much like cars of the 1950’s. However, I do believe it was form following function, as each camera manufacturer had their own approach during the era of integrating electronic metering coupled with mechanical control of aperture and shutter speed (such as the trap needle method). So it was that these different designs resulted in different appearances.

This is a very dangerous thread: the beautiful photos of these wonderful cameras can cause severe financial angst.

Indeed it is. But I have always been sensible enough to hand my money on cameras I can use. I love and appreciate the mechanical qualities of these cameras but it is usually an AF SLR camera that I will use.

Having said that, if a nice camera comes my way and it is cheap I will buy it. I set a limit of being willing to spend up to £50. Every now and then a good deal will come my way. I am happy with the mechanical cameras I have (OM1, SRT-303, SR-1) and I got them cheap.

Plaubel Makiflex #2 has had some machining done to the bottom section. Good repair well done works smoothly. It is good to have a second Makiflex Standard. This one has a barrel Schneider Xenar 180mm f4.5 Good Portrait lens The silver handle is another interesting modification. Got an original Makiflex Cable Release in the deal.

Shortly after I received this camera (from a shoppe in Prague) I was bummed, it first appears maybe impact damaged? As the bottom front of the camera has been replaced, what is going on? NOW I realize the true genius of this ingeneous hack as the camera actually has FULL AXIAL AXIS SWING MOVEMENTS. I am stunned, never seen this before. It works a treat, even handheld. Shown here with the 150mm barrel Heliar on Peco Jr board. So it has some of the movement capability of the Pecoflex. This will be unreal with the 150mm F2.8 Xenotar. I'm so glad I bought this camera after watching it for what seems like forever. It even has what feels like ball detents at the zero position. A masterful modification highly useful to me

I like my first Maki Std but this one is UNREAL!
