I'm sorry, but I do not agree, the focus should be on the other eye. I focused without the (separate) rangefinder. In portraits I like to have the focus on the eye that is closest to the camera. The other portrait is better.

Yes, that is true! I have a "carpenter's eye" as we say here in The Netherlands. My grandfather was a carpenter.
