Hey guys, so I developed my first round of IIIC shots after first losing a roll of film due to incorrect loading. I'm still getting used to the camera (especially looking through the viewfinder vs what comes out on film), but here are what I thought were my best shots from my second roll. Actually, the film still was loaded a bit off because there was a white band at the top of my pictures. Not to be dishonest, but I corrected this in Lightroom using the scaling option.

I love the softness in quality of the photos that the lens seems to produce. Very unique.

I did have a specific question regarding exposure. I'm not sure if it's the camera, the lens, or maybe due to the fact the film wasn't loaded entirely correct. First, here is a picture of me that I had my friend take. I metered the scene and then handed her the camera. Before this, I took a photo of her with the exact same camera settings in the same spot as I am, but this picture didn't show up in my developed photos. Could anyone venture a guess as to why that might have occurred?

Best scan I can manage with my Opticfilm 7200. Taken on IIIf with coated Elmar. Shot on Legacy Pro 100 (expired in 2011 and sitting unrefrigerated for the past 3 years!). Stand developed in Rodinal 1:100 for 60 minutes. Scanner set to lowest contrast possible as per Christopher Crawford's tutorial. Levels and curves adjusted in photoshop. No sharpening applied.

Great shot, Erik and wonderufl exposure. It's driving me crazy that it's not straight though :p

I had a question about the Elmar 5cm/3.5 and focusing. The max focusing distance on the lens seems to be about 4ft. Does that mean the lens won't do well taking photos any closer than that? If I attached a lens to my IIIc that had an even closer focusing distance, would the range finder recognize that and allow me to keep focusing? Sorry if these are silly questions.

Thank you.

The minimum focusing on the Elmar 50mm f/3.5 is usually 1 m (3 ft).

The rangefinders of my IIIc's go easily to 75 cm (2.5 ft) though, as I can go with them this close when using my Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.5.

Erik.
