I recently had a few rolls of film developed with contact prints for quick check and found that in most shots my CLE's shutter curtain opens only half when trigger is fired.
I slipped in new batteries and fired dry in B mode. Still luckless as the curtain (not sure if front or back) doesn't fully open. Any thoughts and recommendations? I sure hope it's still serviceable.

Hi Manny nice to see you here, please try this links also http://www.fixya.com/PostQuestionPremium.aspx?dm=1&ctgid=0&sf=minolta cle&ref=gab and http://konica-minolta.diplofix.com/forum-KONICA MINOLTA/CLE. Also a recent stuck shutter problem with an R3m might have some info to release shutter. I will try to put a fresher battery as LR44 does not have a good shelf life. I suggest to buy from a fast turnover store like the battery center in SM.

Hey Gil. Don't think it's the batteries though. As I've read some of similar threads, it's a case of "stuck" or rather, not fully opening curtains. My option right now is to have my friend bring it with him over to Singapore tomorrow and hopefully serviced there. Not sure if there is someone competent to do proper CLA here in Manila.

If you can send it there that would be good no chance here. Goodluck!

Any good repair person can perform the necessary work on a CLE. I've had two done by local repair shops in the US. The only non-replaceable part is the circuit board. And despite all the internet dire warnings I've never actually heard of anyone having a non-repairable CLE. The two I bought were not working correctly so I got them cheap and spent a $100 each for a CLA.
