Canon LTM Shutter problem VI-T

Hi,
I have a VI-T that I'm trying out, with a great F1.2 lens. It's exhibiting darkness on the right side. If I remember, it's worse at high speeds, but shows up somewhat at anything above 125.

I'm a Large Format guy mostly, and don't know much about the mechanics of these old rangefinders. Is this a dragging, sticking or "other" shutter problem? Am I going to have to pay more than the camera cost to fix it? I like the trigger wind idea, and would like to keep this camera. Who can repair it and clean the viewfinder? I'm in AZ if that matters.

Most likely your shutter is "capping," which is where one curtain is overtaking the other. Not at all uncommon in a 50+ year old camera. A CLA will cure this.

Thanks for that answer. Yeah, I've gotten lucky, my Canon IVSB and Voigtlander Vitessa needed no work, and expose properly. I guess I'll bite the bullet and research this forum for a good CLA guy for the metal shutter Canons.

Well Mark Hama and Steves Cameras were within $10 of each other for a complete CLA (wonder if that will include cleaning the viewfinder?). I'm going with Steves because Mark said he's going to be out most of May.
