On the web I have discovered the construction drawing of a home-made shutter speed tester; it seems to be a very easy task, so for my curiousity I have purchased the components for 2 Euros and I am ready to assembly it.
Do you know it? Have you any experience with it? Of course I will post my experience.
Thanks for any information and tip.

I built it and it works. Takes some figuring out how to read the 'audiogram' your computer's sound recording system makes though.

Thanks for your reply, Rob: you encourage me to go on, so I will work on it this weekend. Yes Whisper, that toll should be connected to your PC where you have an audio software (i.e. Audacity)

Did I miss the link to this gadget? I'm working on a focal plane shutter as we speak, er, write and need some help seeing if I'm making any headway.

I've videoed my shutter curtains at 30fps but a real timer would be a bonus, even if it only costs 2 Euro.

I put one of these together today. I got the prototransistor, 5k resistor and AA battery box from Radio Shack for $4.50 I already had the mic cable. I tested it with the free software call Audacity on windows XP, just used the sound card that came on my motherboard. Worked very well even up to 1/500, didn't test beyond that.
