shutter speeds off for Widelux?

My Widelux F7 seems to have slow shutter times:

at 1/15 sec, the full swing of the lens takes about 6 seconds

at 1/125, the full swing takes about 0.7 seconds

at 1/250, the full swings takes about 0.3 seconds

Are these times offbase here?

I think that sounds about right.

1/60 should be about 1.4 sec

1/30 roughly 3

1/15 roughly 6

- it has to get the exposure across the entire area, and they are moving in the standard progression (doubling)... so I'd guess they are about right.

The speeds seem to be proportionally correct relative to each other, yes. But it seems that all speeds are slow relative to Widelux spec. According to my calculations:

total duration of lens travel divided by 30 = actual shutter speed

so the real-world speeds that my Widelux gets are ~ 1/5, 1/50, and 1/100 sec, which is about 1.5 stops overexposure. This is fine for print film, but I like shooting slide film panoramas so exposure is a bit more critical for my purposes.

Hmm, time to do more tests....my guess is that the camera needs a CLA. Also noticed that speeds run slower in cold weather.

If anyone with Widelux and a stopwatch can do an informal test and post them here, I'd really appreciate it!

I see your post is old but i was searching info on Wideluxs and came across this. I just got a F6B today and my speed sound slow and are similar to yours w/ a stopwatch .7 sec @ 125. How did your test turn out. Did you ever get it adjusted? Will test mine with film tomorrow. Ken
