shutter speeds

No Leica M film camera goes beyond 1/1000 as far as I know. If just need to reduce light to use wider aperatures use an ND filter. First released M8 had 1/8000 shutter speed.

Leica M2, M3, M4, M6, MP: 1 second to 1/1000. Leica M5, 1/2 second to 1/1000. I can check the range on my M7, can't remember just offhand. But since it still has the cloth shutter, it will still be just 1/1000 on the high end.

You don't need extra speeds for those.

To be honest, I wish digital has same as film. It is annoying on digital to switch it in the dark and have no idea which speed it is. With film M I could switch to any speed from any position with closed eyes.
