Hi

Got an Audo S2 on Ebay, but it seems the shutter is broke or will not budge inany case. I would rather pay for a CLA than try to get a new one and I have tried the DIY solution found on the web, but I am either too unable/unskilled/uninterested to do it myself. Does anybody know where I could get it fixed for a reasonable (c.£40) in the UK?

I would suggest a phone call to Newton & Ellis in Liverpool - tell them the type of camera and fault and ask for an estimate. It cost me £50 to get a Retina fixed with a similar problem and they had to source a new cocking rack which are like hen's teeth. They even knocked out all the dings in the body too!

I have no relationship with them, other than a satisfied customer - they have kept my Retinas and Nikon F2 running for the past 18 years.

Hi,
My personal recommendation would be Michael Spencer. His work is first class and his prices are about 2/3 of everyone else I have tried and should be within your budget. Contact details:http://www.btinternet.com/~camerarepairer/

Regards
Kim

Hello, John. Just curious, what is a "plastic photographer" ?

Hi bruhl,

I suppose I could spend ages explaining about how life is different through a lens, the photographer bing insulated from the event by the vf, etc, etc. The honest answer is that I like using plastic (aka "toy") cameras as well as my rf beauties.

Or am I just a cheap facsimile of the real me????? 😉
