Any opinions on a Side Grip for the Bessa?
I definetly don't like the R3a hanging from the neck strap so I ordered a Gordy wrist strap. Figured the grip might be the next logical choice......

Thanks

I have the side grip on my Bessa R2C, and really like it. I don't use neck straps on cameras, only wrist straps, and this affords a much better hold on the camera while carrying, and improves handling too, IMO. Definately worth the $45 from CameraQuest.

I only have acquired it very recently but must say it really improved the handling from me. I did make it quite a bit thicker than it is by adding gaffer's tape. The camera is a bit bigger now which is too bad, but it really feels excellent in my hands.

I got one when I bought my Bessa R and tried it and eventually sold it. Pretty well made and a very good fit to the camera but mot to me. A good piece of kit but didn't suit me.

I have the side grip on my L and a Gordy strap on my R. Both work well in different ways.

I wouldn't think you'd need a half-case if you were using the grip?

Hear hear, the side grip is good, and it has a home on my R3A. That said, I use the Voigtlander half-case on my Bessa L, and I like the grip it has as well as the protection it offers.

Did I mention I usually have the T in a Bessa L bag? With the sidegrip even a 1,2 50 Canon fits in. OK, barely but it fits! That is mainly for travel, to try to eliminate black lenscap shots.

I have the sidegrip on my Bessa R and quite like it. I'm ordering a Gordy wrist strap as I think they will work well together.

DOS TACOS: What's with TWO Bessa R's, both with sidegrips? You have a different lens on each one?

I use the side grip and like the two extra strap holes that let the camera hang vertically, whether carried on neck or shoulder. The non winder version is very inexpensive anyway and easy to fit and remove as the fancy takes you.

Yea. I will go pick one up next time I'm down by Photo Village. I ordered a Black gordy strap the other day, should go nicely together. Thanks

I've been using a grip and a wrist strap for a few years now. I like the comfort and I can dangle the camera frommy wrist yet it is available much more quickly than on a neck strap. I haven't used a camera case since 1972; they just get in the way, that's why they are called "NRC" never ready case. Bury your case and add a keeper to your lens cap so it is always there. Then you hhave to remember to remove it. I get around the problem by using a UV or a Skylight filter. Relatively cheap to replace and you don't have anything to remove. I got my wrist strap from china and it cost about $20 and it is very good. I bought another from CameraHunter.com and they are the same price, about $20. Check them out before you spend more for one.
dave is a good guy to do business with and has all kinds of goodies for almost any camera.

I use the stock camera strap with my Ts with the rapid winder. It allows me to hang the camera from the side and is very fast. I wish the L and R could take the rapid winder. I like the winder over the grip as it has two strap lugs on it.

I've been thinking of getting a G' wrist strap for my Ls but have not gotten to it.
