Sigma DP1 & DP2 Merrill - Sightings?

I noticed on the sigma site that they had a brightline vf accessory. Does that mean u can hear an af lock confirmation?

I may pop for the VF ... In the meantime I am going to play with a VIOOH dialed into around ~45mm and see what I think.

Ah, indeed. There is an audible chirp (defeatable) with AF. I forgot to mention ZF... this works better than most people will admit! As soon as the release is pressed -WHAM, you took a shot -there is NO lag.

Looks like all my issues are taken care of.. Let's c xp1 14mm lens this year and maybe I can find a way to squeeze that sigma in..hummmmmmm.

OK. This inspired me to try some MF work.

The older pre Merrill is better, IMHO.

I like using the "SCREEN" button and the thumb dial much more than having to press the shutter halfway and reaching around to the lens -which led to at least one misfire.

It seems funny that on paper and in discussion that the Merrill concept would be preferred if not wholey natural, but these cameras are simply NOT what a lot of people think that they are.

Yes, they are fixed lensed, buy they really are not a P&S which they "look" like. They are not a X100 that I think a lot of folks might consider comparing them to. Nor are they a Sony RX100. They are not a do everything type of camera. So what are they? Well, in an way -think large format that can *almost* fit in your pocket.

They have truly changed my outlook on my hobby.

Thanks again for the update... Luckily I have other cameras for times I need faster af... In reality, I shoot over 60% landscape, still life and other forms of inanimate objects 🙂. Portrait, street and family related make up most of the rest...

As an FYI... Here is a guy who shots street w/ m8 and 9 and sometimes she's a dp2 for this.. I think he may be a member of rff.. The dp3 he is talking about is the rumor replacement a couple of years back...I guess prior to the announcement of the Merrill line.
