Sigma has been reluctant to release their 19mm, 30mm and 60mm lens for X mount. I suggest we do some pushing to make them understand that there is room for cheaper and reasonably good lens on X mount.

Having more manufactures produce lens for Fuji system would increase competition and should probably decrease prices and/or increase quality in long run. So even if you don't plan on buying Sigma it would still benefit you if they released lens for X mount.

It would be great if you dropped them a short message about this:

Thank you!

I can't see that competition really increases quality in Sigma lenses. Still - after all the years - problems with AF reliability. With some lenses it's a gamble to get a working sample right from the start.

Besides that, Sigma builds very nice lenses at the moment.

I would say that their new 35mm f/1.4 is nice of example of what can healthy competition bring: incredible lens quality for a very reasonable price. They do have crappy lens too out there but the point here is that getting more options on the market is great for us, end users.

I'm talking of exactly that lens. In our big dslr-forum lot's of people sent it back because of AF-problems. I can't remember reading this only one time for the Canon 1.4/35. If you get one with a good AF, then the lens is said to be wonderful.

I see. On the other hand it should be a bit easier to design CDAF lens due to the fact that auto-focus relies just on the info received from the sensor, not precomputed phase detection focusing table.

The Fuji lenses are so fantastic, I'm not sure what room Sigma has in the space.
Charging $400ish for their good, but lower quality lenses versus Fuji's $500-700 isn't going to win a lot of sales.

Unless they have a compelling price/performance balance to offer, particularly in some lens line gaps... there isn't much point.

Further, Fuji XF mount may not be worth their investment for another generation or so, when they have a larger camera base to sell lenses to.
