I keep seeing amazing images from the Sigma SD series, but the reviews are often so-so, I know they don't have the bells and whistles of other DSLRs, but that doesn't bother me, in fact, I think I'd like it.

The SD15 is pricey, and lens range is limited to Sigma, any other thoughts on them??

I believe Sigma/Foveon are greatly underrated.

And the one thing about the SD14 that almost made it a deal-maker for me is that the camera is User Changeable back and forth for Infrared.

I presume the SD15 is also capable of being converted by the user to infrared and back.

Funny, I was just reading about it's IR capability, it's a nice extra to have. I've only shot IR on film, and liked the results, so it might be nice to try it on digital too.

A friend of mine shot an SD-14 with a Carl Zeiss Planar with C/Y mount on it.

Apparently you only have to take the file to a very small edge of one of the bayonet lobes of a Contax/Yashica lens to make it fit a Sigma, and the lens-to-sensor flange on the Sigma is 44mm while the Contax/Yashica is 45.5mm, so you need some small paper shims to bring the lens mount out 1.5mms.

His shots were pretty awesome with it.
