This is my wife, Rasha, who had to endure most of her life under Saddam's regime. I got her out and we live happily in the USA. Both of us lost our father's during the embargo years. Cancer was spreading everywhere without any means to get medications.

Well, I am 27, unmarried and unattached, so I suppose I will post my sister. She is really quite hard to get a good photo of...she doesn't really mind getting her picture taken, but she changes expression so quickly that she can be a bit tough...

by the way i know what you mean by quickly changing expressions...had lots of similar problems

Pherdinand, I am sorry for you, but yes, she has a very serious boyfriend....

As for the expressions, I think the difficulty is that I always seem to catch her in mid expression change, so it distorts her face in a weird way. Even in this one she is halfway between a smile and a "hurry the F up and take the picture" expression.

In the past 30 years I could not figure out when she likes to be photographed and when not. This one was taken on a test roll.

Oh, I forgot to add -- hms624 -- those are some seriously haunting photos. Once you figure out some post processing basics they are really going to shine. I like the contrasty lighting in the first image, and the somewhat ominous group looking at your shivering girlfriend in the water...

thanks stuart. I am a big fan of natural photography, with no flash, studio, poses, etcetera. I am happy with these shots, but I am also happy that I managed to take them. both were taken in very low light with high speed film, and both are candid. rangefinder photography seems to allow me to see in a different way than i otherwise would.

This is from one of the rare instances that she will let me take her photo. Her willingness had something to do with having lasting mementos of our dying pup. She has been very tolerant of my hobby and I am thankful for that.

Good luck with your studies. After watching the TV series "Raya and Skeena", I know more about the Alexandria dialect! By the way, I nearly spent this semester in Cairo, but it did not work out. Your website is modern.

My wife of 22 years. We've grown up together. I've recently been scanning 20+ year old negatives (mostly faded), and through these she now wishes more photos had been taken. Photographing her lately has been much easier. This photo taken a month or so ago, Fuji Sensia100, Contax G1 w/ 35mm Planar, natural light.
