Silk Strap from Lumiere

Has anyone ever ordered or use one of these straps as opposed to the Artisans Silk Strap?

That's a lot of money for a camera strap, but much less than what Artisan and Artist wants for their silk cord strap, which is over $100

Have to say that strap looks pretty tempting. Always wanted an artisan and artist silk strap but couldn't get myself to put so much money to buying a camera strap.

I was thinking the same thing.... but $60 is still a lot of $$$.

No its not. The description on the Lumiere website says polyamide a.k.a. nylon.

Not sure about this strap, but the silk straps from A&A are extremely comfortable with a rangefinder camera. No sharp edge to dig into your neck.

I have the A&A silk cord strap on my M3 and it is definitely the most comfortable strap that I've ever used. I've tried many straps and the silk cord strap is my favourite. I just wished it was a tad longer.

the look of this strap is OK, but i question if the "tape part" (that connects the two pieces of cord near the metal ring) is sturdy and would hold up. it's hard to tell from the photo. relative to anything in the RF leica world, $60 actually seems reasonable. (you know how warped our perceptions of price become when we get consumed by this passion.) hmmm ... but for "just" $40 more, i'd probably spring for the A&A, which looks great, appears to be sturdier (in the connection area) ... and would allow me to know that i probably have the most expensive camera strap in the world 😉 (i'm serious except for the last part about wanting to have the most expensive strap.)

I have just shown the link to my GF who uses a kumihimo (?) and she is now pricing up the bits needed; thinks she can make one for about £20.. But I will wait and see if she ever gets round to it (worse than me...!)

I´ve been making my own camera straps for years. The last one I made can easily hold a camera + an Apo Telyt lens, each one takes several hours to make and considerable research has gone into it. You could go the DIY route, but why risk it?

Just like everything,you get what you pay for.

That "tape" is actually heat shrink tubing, available in your hardware or electrical supply store. It won't hold a loop for long, let alone with a camera on it... And I wouldn't spend a dollar on one that did.

yea, i'd be staying away from it for this reason. man, the last thing i need is to worry about the strap splitting ... and dispensing my camera earthbound ...
