Silver finish

Anybody know exactly what the finish is on the silver CV lenses is; is it actually chromium plate, or sprayed metal or some type of paint coating?

It appears to be chrome plate just like any other chrome on metal lens, I'm not really wanting to scrape through it to see what's underneath! It aint paint.

Yes that’s what I think, I want to make a brass collar to fit a different hood and could use the existing hood as a mandrill while I solder some brass shim to the correct diameter…………but I’m worried in case its not chrome and I mess up the hood

Yikes, the inside of the hood is painted, it may smoke off if heated to solder-melting temp, if I understand what you're doing..
