May I seek for advice as I just purchase/install Silverfast SE 8 for my Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner but there is only "print" and "photo" for selection of source in workflow pilot per attached pictures.
This does not allow me to scan negative film. Is there setup/control icon in the software application I should click to enable negative film scanning?

Use the soft ware that came with the Eason V700. Or vuescan. I bought my V700 new and it came with Silverfast SE, I gave up on it.

Agree with Beemermark. There is nothing the Epson software won't give you easily that Silverfast makes horridly tedious.

This might be a bit too obvious, but, if you are wanting to scan film instead of a print, have you removed the document cover, and have you made sure that the cover cable is connected to the scanner’s OPTION port?
It sounds like the software thinks you have the scanner prepared to scan a print or document, which would explain why those are the two options that the workflow pilot is giving you.
If you have not removed the document cover, or if the cover isn’t correctly plugged in, and you then do so, you will probably have to quit and restart the software so that it can recognize the way you have the scanner configured and give you the appropriate workflow pilot.
That’s all I can think of as this isn’t a normal issue otherwise.

Agree with the others: use the Epson Scan software. It is easy to use and gives good results.

Let me add to the comments of other posters with the exception that I own an Epson V600; it handles 35mm and medium format and generates excellent scans from B&W, color, chromogenic, and slide films. Epson software works fine.

Are you sure the product you bought even supports negative scanning? From their web page - Especially for scanning slides, film and negatives please pay attention to our advanced beginner version of SilverFast SE Plus 8. Notice the "plus".
One thing that really, really turned me off to Silverfast is they have multiple version, one for each scanner, one for 32 byte machines, one for 64 byte machines, etc, etc, The one that came with my V700 was basically what I would call a demo. When I researched buying it (and this was several years ago) I was turned off by trying to figure out which version to buy. Vuescan on the other hand is relatively cheap and works with any computer and any scanner. I bought the pro version which gives you life time updates. The owner updates regularly when scanners or computer software is updated. He sends out a monthly (?) email with the updates and other information. I only use it now for an old Minolta scanner but I do appreciate the product and updates.

I use an Epson V700 with Silverfast SE Plus 8.8. Epson Scan software is easier to use, but I think the multiple exposure function in Silverfast is a benefit. I stopped using Workflow Pilot because I found it awkward and limiting. On my software, Workflow Pilot does let me select source/negative, not sure why yours doesn't.
I scan primarily B&W negatives. The manual settings I use are:
Transparency holder
Negative
16-8 bit
I set scan dimensions manually
I use the Negafix settings to specify the film type
I always use the Multi-exposure setting
I never use dust and scratch removal, unsharp mask, or any exposure adjustments. I like to do these in my editing software (Exposure X5)
I also don't use auto frame selection. Trying that really messed me up.
The main process I've learned, after much frustration, is to 1) prescan scan the contact sheet (important to use prescan and not the enlarge view + function at this stage), 2) scan the contact sheet 3) resize the large contact frame to the selected negative, 4) now use the enlarge (+) function to enlarge the negative and make final frame adjustments, 5) final scan, 6) select the reduce (-) function, which brings up the scanned contact sheet, 7) move the frame selection to the next negative, repeat.
I have to remember to change the scan dimensions when moving from contact sheet to individual negative.

I agree with Kai-san. SilverFast gives extremely good results - it's the Photoshop of the scanning world. But like Photoshop there's a bit of learning curve. I have to admit I really dislike its "quirky" interface (VueFast is just as bad...).
SilverFast SE can scan transparencies, so the problem lies with the scanner. As mentioned by someone else, have put the scanner into transparency mode and removed the cover? Also, check the connector from the transparency unit isn't loose. Firing up Epson Scan will of course show whether or not there's a scanner problem.

Thank you for your advice/input and Larry is correct as I hadn't connected cover cable.
New to scanning and has a lot to learn.

Glad you got it sorted out, and it looks like you are off to a great start. Silverfast is nice software in terms of results, once you get past the (World’s least intuitive) interface, which keeps most people from ever understanding how to use it.

If you find you like SilverFast, its worth paying to upgrade to Plus: that allows you to use "multi-exposure" for better tonal range, and to calibrate your scanner for accurate colours (buy targets (called "IT8") from Wolf Faust (google!) as they're a fraction of the price LaserSoft's - or anyone else's - IT8 targets).
