Other Areas Singapore and Malaysia RF Club

My first rangefinder was the QL17 GIII. Results from it are nice on traditional BW film. For colour, the contrast is a bit lower than modern lenses.

I used to have a Konica Auto S3, but sold it instead of the QL17 as it cannot operate on manual mode. The Konica is smaller and lighter though, with a fantastic lens too.

My only gripe about the QL17 is the poor feel of the shutter release.

you mean the shutter has long travel ?
i found that userful especially you can AE lock with it,,,,

this camera QL17 is so amazing,,,, PC syn cord, AE lock, 1/500flash syn, multiple exposure etc
amazingly capable for such a cheap and old camera
REally puts to shame some of the newer cameras these days

ohhh,,,, did i mention user variable selftimer
Just pull the lever to whichever time you need, max is 10sec anything in between is up to you
:))

Hi guys! I should be able to make it for October 1, if there are no changes in the training schedule. Can't wait to meet up again.

My hair is growing back pretty fast—I think I'll have to get it trimmed halfway through BMT; may get a cap then. :)

Terence, will pass you the money for the stuff I ordered when we meet up in October.

Sounds good Justin... so far:

1. Glenn
2. Peter
3. Terence
4. Stephen
5. Justin

Oct 1st, 3pm. Some of my birder friends might be over too. There's a bunch of coppersmith barnets (that's a bird) hanging out in the tree just outside my studio window. Don't be surprised if you see a bunch of overgrown men with their overgrown birding lenses pointed at a tree.

Too bad the hats won't be in before the meeting, only picking em up the week after.

Hi guys,

Finally got around to using my 135mm Hektor for some testing...

Anyway, I thot the results were quite all right and I think I still need to familiarise myself with this lens coz need to get used to imagining the 135mm from the 90mm frameline in my bessa-r.... also the plane of sharpness is quite small at f4.5.

Anyway, here are some images.. all hamster pics shot at f4.5, 1/30 and the other 2 pics are shot at f6.7, 1/60 *if i didn't remember wrongly* :p

Nice to meet you! Best of luck in your rangefinder adventures! :D

Hi Johnny,

Nice to meet you and your girlfriend. If you need any help in choosing your new RF camera and scanner, do send me an e-mail. By the way, the locked gallery I showed you just now at my web gallery is seance. It should give you some idea what films could do and why it is better than digital, especially in B&W! :)

Regards,
Peter

Thank you Peter for the kind help offered. As recommended by Glen, I have emailed a Greyhoundman, not sure if you know him, if he has any Yashica Electro GSN/GX or Canon Canonet QL17 for sale.

Am hoping to hear from him soon. By the way, we managed to reach the movie in time! Albeit missing some commercials at the beginning. I would highly recommend the movie to everyone to watch!

The ENTIRE movie was shot on Canon 1DMK IIs, 24 of them were bought and fitted with NIKON lenses, that meant getting a special adaptor to fit them together and no auto focussing. Besides that, its another great piece of work from 'Nightmare Before Christmas' fame, Tim Burton.

RFF Hats Order Update...

Seems like Jorge is experiencing a slight delay with the hats and they yet to ship. He says it should arrive any day now but I'd only be able to pick up after Oct 20th.

As for those who wanted the M caps (Justin & Tim), they have arrived, drop me an email, maybe sending them by mail would be the most convenient thing to do.

Got loads of extra M body and rear lens caps, so if anyone else wants, drop me an email too.

Cheers,
T

Terence, Peter, there's an Olive R2 on the Bay! #7551171066.

Gosh, this is so uncommon. Dang. Why can't this be 4 or 5 months later. It seems to be a resonable price so far too. Pity that the seller is doing his business in Europe.

Terence, thanks for the trouble for the hats and for the gathering at your home. It was enjoyable and thanks for the tip about Hanoi. I've been thinking about the idea. And i think Johnny should be having his QL 17 soon. So that's good news.:D
