I've heard that it is a bad idea to use a single lug strap on a leica, especially the m2 and m3 as the lugs are prone to get loose and fall off. I really like the idea of these straps so I'm hoping this is a leica myth....and thoughts?

only if you're dumb enuf to dangle the camera, all the time, like jewelry from your wrist.
using a wrist strap usually also means that the shooter holds onto the camera.

Sort of what I figured, that it should not be any worse. Straps such as the sling may put more force on the lug though...

Ive used a homemade finger sling from the tripod socket to the lug (for the jewlery effect), but found it tired out my knuckles, and now use a traditional neck strap.

The strap lugs from somewhere in the 1,7xx,xxx serial# range started to be attached by 2 screws from the inside, making it less likely if not impossible to torque the lugs loose. Before that they was a single connection that was crimped inside the body and anything that could twist the lug could work it loose. On those occasions where I want to hold the camera in one hand I just wrap the neckstrap around my wrist.

I have two of these straps and they are quite nice, however, I wouldn't use them on a camera with much weight. Zorki, yes. Canon G-III, yes. Leica, no.
