Hi Huck, I just measured my C/V 1.7/35 beeing 47.8mm from top to flange including the small hood - 40mm without (never would use the 1.7/35 without it)
My CANON 2/35 (which is presently my favorite 35mm lens) is just 28mm from top to flange.
Theres is just *one* thing to say against the Canon - flare in backlight situations. (I think this is a common Gauss design drawback, this is also present in the 4th gen. Summicron which is a very similar design, just 26mm from top to bayonet). Use of a hood (I use the 1.5/50 hood) helps, but not by much.
I realize that all of the new Biogons are sold without hood. So are they flare-resistant?
I noticed that some of the newer Cosina/ Voigtlander wideangle designs, even if no Biogon-types, are very flare-resistent (like the 4.5/15, 4/21, 4/25). How are the new Biogons?
cheers, Frank
