Small camera for 3 months around the globe?

If you're going light with backpack, I'd recommend a camera small enough to hang on a neckstrap long enough for it to fit into a front shirt pocket or inside jacket pocket. You'll use it a lot more.
My everyday camera is a Nex5n with VC and Leitz lenses, but there's better options for rough travel.
I've had good results from the Sony TX series - particularly useful is the sweep panoramic ( better results than the Nex ). You can swim with it ( which also means it's dirtproof ) and designed for withstanding drops of 4 ft. Excellent macro also.
The Sony tx20 is 16MP and around $200 these days. Probably there's newer models now. Should have a couple of extra batteries.
Have a larger sensor camera stashed away in your bag for more careful images if you want.

I have both the Fuji X100 and the Sony RX100.

The Fuji is more "camera-like" with a VF and good feel...BUT, for small, on-the-go stealth and travel, the RX100 is worth it's weight in gold. Robust, good zoom range, great Zeiss T* glass, great sensor...fantastic travel camera.

I finally got online a NEX5 + 16/2.8 + CCTV 35/1.7 for a low price, which sounds good and reliable enough for what I´m after and fit most of my checklist on post#1

I think the 16 will cover my "spontaneously wide" style and the 35 will do fine for adding a bit of variety and tons of out of focus areas :)

I´ll get them in a couple of days. Man I´m curious to see what these can do!

I would've chosen the Sigma pair (19 and 30) but your selection makes sense. The original 5 still is a great camera!
