I have been thinking of getting the Nokton 40mm MC, and I noticed that Cameraquest lists two available hoods for it, the LH-6 Hood and the "smaller ROUND lens hood." I have seen the LH-6 hood often in pictures of this lens. Does anyone have pictures of what this lens looks like with the smaller round hood? And also, is it a metal hood?
Thanks in advance -

Hi
If its as I think it will be the hood that was made to fit the first version 35mm pancake lens. This is a strait sided metal hood appx 50mm dia and 10mm deep. The original Voigt metal lens cap fitted directly onto the hood.
Regards

Not sure if this is the same, but I bought a "small round lens hood" from Stephen for my Nikkor 35/1.8. It also fits the Nokton and looks very nice indeed, and works well (no vignetting on either 35 or 40).

Mine has the LH-5, also a round hood. It is vented, like the Leica hoods for 35 and 50mm lenses. Not sure if it's smaller than the LH-6.

If Steve is correct this was the original listing which is no longer on the page:
35/2.5 Pancake I lens hood (not included with lens) DISCONTINUED $29
The dealer may have put a CV cap on the remaining stock of this hood, or the round hood currently listed may be entirely new.

You can see the hood that I was talking about here, on the Nikkor 35 (and also on the 50 on the right, BTW). This will fit the Nokton nicely:
Stephen sold me this hood with a fitting Voigtlander cap.
A short email to Stephen might clarify the issue.

Yes, thats the one I meant.Stephen has them listed $45 with cap. On mine I use the original pancake 1 metal lenscap which is the same as the current 75mm lens cap.

That is the CV pancake I hood. I use mine on a pre-ASPH 50mm Summilux. A sturdy little hood and well worth getting.
That's a very nice looking 85/2 Nikkor you have there ferider. You like the lens?

Yes it is a metal hood. There are the pictures.
With hood unmounted
With hood mounted
If you are using a 43mm filter, it will sit between the lens and the smaller hood. If you are using Voigtlander's LH5/6, the filter will sit seperately, just inside the hood's mounting ring. When you use this small metal hood, the original 43mm pinch cap can no longer be used as there are no threads for the cap to catch on.
Cheers,
