Also the Zebra Canon 50/2.8 - very small and light, and sharp as all hell for such a simple lens.

Elmarit 28 ASPH is delightfully small, but looms over the Summaron 28/5.6 (I know, LTM).

there is a M mount version of the Pentax 43mm Ltd. I don't exactly know how it compares with other mentioned here, but it can'r be that big

My 21mm SA is small enough.
Any smaller than that and it starts to becomes a hassle.

Rollei Sonnar 40/2.8 in LTM: shares the same barrel and filter size as the dimunitive CV 28/3.5. Would make a killer pair for daytime shooting...

The Pentax 43/1.9 in LTM (not M mount) is actually big for an RF lens, especially for a "Barnack" LTM body (the special 43mm viewfinder is also big). It's about the same size as a modern 50/2 Summicron (which I don't have but have seen) or M-Hexanon (which I do have). Definitely not in the "pancake" category.

Someone mentioned the 28 Hektor, truly compact, but image quality is not that great and it flares wildly. The Summaron 28f5.6 is a better choice and truly compact - even smaller than a 35f3.5 Summaron. It is also a very high resolving lens - though the contrast is flat - very flat. I used to use it with PanF and Tech Pan to boost it.
Another compact lens is the Ricoh GR 21f3.5 in screw mount. On a Bessa R4 you dont need a finder so it becomes a truly "compact" wide. The ergonomics are OK, focussing tab and small lever for the aperture ring. Always takes me a while to "rethink" that. Keep trying to focus with the aperture ring. I just put it on my R4M - but crappy weather prevents wandering out with it today. The hood is massive and heavy too.
The Ricoh 28 is also very compact - but I found mine to be a bit flare-prone.

Hey John,
As you know I own a 28/3.5 Canon Serenar. Kinda works great for me since I basically only use it at F5.6 or F8.0 where its sharp enough for me.
At the next NYC Meet-Up I'll bring my 35/1.8 Nikkor LTM.
Also would say that Andre's 35/2.8 Summaron is a cute small lens.

FWIW, I just saw one on the 'bay for US$1800, with finder. Those were selling for under US$600 (more like $750 by today's exchange rate) in Tokyo just last year, only a little more in North America.
