Some wonderful portraits in his book Sittings 1979-1983. Anthony Powell sits facing left, turned towards the camera, very intent and serious, as his white cat extends from the wing of his chair almost to the floor, as he leaps down his as the shutter is tripped.

Snowdon describes his set-up and approach to portraits, direct instruction, slow shutter speeds and talk or silence or a movement ordered, anything to shift the shot from tired to something better.
