So good!....but so elusive!

One of the main reasons for my continued regular use of film, is this camera - bought for 'a song' back in February, I am still captivated by it, and wish I had picked one up way back in '84 when it was released!. These Hexanons are tremendous lenses ( I have three ) and so reasonably priced, when they appear on the market!. One of my favourite focal lengths is an 80 or 85, and I believe that Konica made a fast AR version, but can I find one? :bang:. So if anyone has one gathering dust, spare a thought!.

Bump!....someone must have one in the closet 🙁
 
Konica were never among the market leaders, and the 85/90/100/105 range was not terribly popular among users of SLRs. Not a helpful response, I know: but it does amount to a bump.
 
I have the same camera in a drawer, with non-working viewfinder LEDs. I just have to find the time to open it up and try cleaning all the contacts. The lens yours is mounting is definitely on my wanted list. 🙂 I only have the 50mm 1.7 and 1.8, a 135mm 3.5, and a Tamron 80-200 I practically got for free. A pity my second AR-mount body, a TC, needs a CLA.
 
I have the 85/1.8 but it's not going anywhere, at least not yet! It, the 40 (a great lens) and the 24/2.8 make for a very nice kit with my T3.

The FT-1 is a very fine camera -- solid and well laid out. It doesn't have depth of field preview, though, and you need to treat the battery compartment contacts with care.

Yes, that would be a good deal, but a little too much there for me, and lord knows what the cost of crossing the pond would be!😱 .....just a nice short tele, for the portraits, and I'll be happy!🙂

I have read about the Fx-1 series, and it appears that while they are nice, compact bodies, when they go bad, it's not easy to get them repaired, and often not economic.

The T4 seems like a better choice as a replacement, even though it's not as small (I don't think), and maybe the T3 is better yet, but larger again. Kinda defeats the purpose of the pancake 40.

Anyone have advice?

I have no experience of other models as there are few around here, but this FT1motor has pleased me more than anything else, for years, and there have been a few! BTW there are quite a few of my shots from the 40mm pancake on my flickr :- Tubal Cain's photostream, and Konica forum there.

I agree with payasam, but not among the market leaders doesn't necessarily mean a poor product. In fact, I'm not so sure that any of these 70-90s SLR lenses are too much different. Maybe small nuances, but that is for an experienced photographer (not me) to decide. You should be able to find that length by Konica (my Konica C35 is the best travel camera I have had [lenses quality, but that isn't everything], and I have had a few Canons and Olympus P&S cameras that have been nightmares). Just keep looking, Ebay has a search save provision, so you can key in what you want for 6 months or more and they send you emails.
