Why? Because I was curious. Just got the lens for my XK film camera, it has great reputation, but I couldn't wait to see so I slapped it onto my M240.
I call this 'Dog on Lap demonstrating righteous 58 1.2 bokeh'
I use rf lenses (Leitz, Zeiss, Voigt) about 95% of the time on the M. But for those moments when you want something different - macro, telephoto, zoom - or just want to sample cheap but awesome glass, the M with Live View (I akshully use the Olympus VF2) really broadens your photographic horizons.
Yeah I want an MD, but I don't want to give up my M.

I glad you decided to experiment...WOW...love the look of the dog's fur...it's like I could reach out and touch this doggy...colors are wonderful too...I'd play with that combo for a bit longer...

Nice choice Huss.
I used to use a modified one on my 5D.... Super lens. I love the 55-60mm focal length.
Wide open and mid distance it gives a really cool tripped out look.
My favorite way to use a fast 50ish.

Wonderful photo. nikon_sam is right, I just want to reach over and pet your pup! Love the look and bokeh. I love seeing what kind of results people get adapting lenses on their cameras. Thanks for sharing.

Desperate but not serious
Is this the first version (all metal scalloped) or the 2nd version?

Reaches infinity using a Fotodiox Pro adapter.

Forgive my ignorance but how is the Minolta lens mounted on the M mount? I assume the Minolta is an SLR lens.

Here is mine, which I sometimes use on my Nex 3's. Mainly I use it on my Minolta film cameras. I was out this morning with it, in the dark stormy rain.

Yes, the Minolta is an SLR lens. You mount it on the Leica with an adapter from Minolta MD mount to Leica M mount. Mine is made by Fotodiox.
There of course is no rangefinder coupling, but as the Leica M240 offers LiveView focusing, you can focus and view with that.

I have a number of great MD lens. But if I put one of them on the M3 it will be a scale focus only?

Yep scale focus only. No rangefinder connection with SLR lenses.
