Still it's just quite strange that, while people all over the world already love or hate this camera, resale it and so forth, I still cannot find the legitimate place in US where I can put an order and buy this camera for the $1200 as initially advertised. Is it only me, or what am I missing here? Strange.

Get on someone's list... it's that simple. B&H perhaps...

B&H photo had them in stock the beginning of June.. Keep an eye on their site. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ When it is available, if you want the case, the hood, etc.. order it at the same time. Those items vanish quickly as well. It will be more money up front but you will secure that you have what you want.

Isoterica: I've been on B&H "We'll notify you" wait list for almost 3 months. There is seems to be no way to put money "up front." Do they really notify you, readers? Phil

Yup. B&H did not allow me to pre-order, only to be notified. I've been on the list almost 2 months and have yet to be contacted.
Yes, I'm kind've annoyed I still cannot buy this camera considering I sold my other digital body 2 months ago in order to buy it.

Is here in NZ and my local store has reduced the price. I bought one of the first batch and traded it back to buy M9. Think I will buy it again for the low light performace.

Price: $1,299.99
Availability: Out Of Stock
Even if it was available, why should I pay $100 above MSRP?
Strange, strange...

here's one for you.. http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28739
Honestly, you need to think outside of the normal camera stores sometimes. I notice that Best Buy lists it... perhaps try through them. I ordered through 3 camera stores and 1 electronics store before it was released and the electronics store came through for me on day 1.
The bottom line is that you need to get on waiting lists, you need to pre-order, and you need to do it at multiple stores. Most don't charge until it is shipped.

I have been checking other stores regularly. Its either out of stock of for sale above MSRP.
But Andre, have you pre-ordered with all the ones you can? I had 4 pre-orders in order to get the one camera that was offered to me.

You missing my point.
I am saying: why should I jump thru hoops here in US, paying above the MSRP for "barely used one", staying in line to 4 different stores and so forth, while the rest of the world just goes to the store to get one? How did the situation manage to turn upside down this way? They should have been chasing me to get my $1200, not the other way around...

i don't think the rest of the world just goes to the store...rumour has it that the first delivery to canada had about 6 cameras in it...it's july and finally there are a few on the shelf here...in a country that has about 19 million people in it there are not as many buyers here as there are in just nyc...

Yo, I was just trying to help. I didn't miss your point at all. I did not say to pay over MSRP, but to get on waiting lists at MSRP. That is how it works right now until all demand is satisfied in the US. You need to be proactive if you want a hot camera. This is a popular camera in the USA. Stop bitching if you don't want to do what is necessary to get the camera you so desperately want.
Selling at $1199?
