My ap tank and reels have a thin-like soot from prolonged usage. Do you guys wash it specifically to remove the soot?

I have had several fingerprint marks on my negatives, except that it wasnt fingerprints, more like the lines from the reel which is strange considering that the reel walls don't touch the film, unless it is from the dark matter from the walls imprinting onto my negatives...

So do u wash ur reels?

I get that too on plastic reels, which is why I moved to stainless reels/tanks combo. If you get some prints on the negatives it could be becuase of the negs touching each other, which could happen if they is a slack when loading the film.

The only wash I do is a few rounds of rinse after every development to make sure the reels are clean before drying and storage.

Only rinsing with water after the developing process is finished. I use stainless steel tanks and reels so I can put the loaded reels into the wetting agent solution. In case of plastic reels one should remove the film from the reels and then put only the film into wetting solution to avoid formation of wetting agent residuals on the plastic surface.
