So what oil for shutter bearings, mirror flip pivots, gears, etc?

I'm not familiar with the Birchwood-Casey product, but I've had good results with Breakfree CLP, another lubricant made for firearms.
 
Outer's gun oil? Clock Oil? Hunter fan oil? Singer Sewing machine oil? These are all quality oils, but some may be too heavy for cameras. We have members who will know!

Oh, one more: how about lightweight synthetic engine oil?
 
In my town we have a hobby shop that caters to model railroaders. They have an "Ultra Light Oil" that is pretty good for this purpose.

One other trick: Spray some WD-40 into a small glass bottle and let it stand for a week. You'll see a thin, clear oil with a cloudy lump of whatever-it-is down near the bottom. If you now skim off the thin oil from the top (I use a draftsman's ruling pen for this), you've got some pretty good stuff.
