Ironic that he personally didn't like the blurry, shaky and out-of-focus images. Those are the ones I really loved! Never seen sports photography like this, and I thought it elevated the image to a sort of abstract iconography. Only ones I didn't enjoy as much were the straight portraits - including the image that was the photographer's favorite.

Interesting images. One of my goals is to do something similar with 4x5 at the Olympics, or other large sporting events. I've taken 4x5 images handheld at football and baseball games. It's fun and challenging.

The half pipe photos are stunning.

Since I started shooting 4x5 for a class and a HABS project, I've been trying to think of other things to point the camera at. Never even considered sports.
