I think it is personal. I happen to find them helpful, others do not. I think the only way to know is to try one. At $20 it is perhaps the least expensive experiment with Leica related gear one can ever make.

Right to the point! It is nothing to agonize over, just try it out. As for proper rifle and pistol technique, that works but does not explain why some shooters use trigger shoes. For me I like soft releases but not trigger shoes, go figure. As for accidental discharges, both firearm and camera variety, never cock it till you are ready to use it and never put it away cocked and loaded. In one situation the consequences are merely annoying and in the other possibly deadly.
