Softening the Lynx 14 Speed Ring

Hellow brothers,

I need to soften the speed ring of my Lynx 14. I went so fas as to disassemble the lens, but at that point I decided to back off, as I am truly ignorant about how to continue and would not like to damage the camera, that otherwise seems and sounds pretty good.

Could you post an explanation for dummies about how to continue ?

Thanks,
Ruben

Sorry,
I meant that I took out the glass front coumpound as a whole, from the outer surface up to the shutter blades.

Thanks for your interest.
Ruben

BTW, if dummies are recommended better not to mess with this specific fix, softening the speed ring, I am ready to accept it. But if the case is rather simple, then kindly lead me inside the cavern.

Inside you will see a scalloped ring, with a small lock screw. Turn the screw till it clears the ring. Then back off the ring, no more than 1/2 turn. If that suits you, turn the screw to relock the ring.

The screw rotates freely without going out. Am I screwed ?

:bang:

G-man you are a Genious ! I would never see that half depression.

:) :D :) :D :) :D :)

Just a quarter of a turn of the scalloped ring has been enough to totally change the situation.

Now, if I am already here, could I tighten the aperture ring ? If it is somewhat risky or complicated, I always can put a rubber band over the aperture ring, but if it is just something easy, I will be happy to do it properly.

Cheers,
Ruben

Sorry to revive an old post. ruben, care to post the help you got mate? I got a 5000e here that needs help with the rings :) Thanks.

Sorry bronney, but the answers were deleted by the poster and I don't remember the process of disassembly.

But more or less you take out the lens compound by rotation, and you find a strange flat ring whose external side looks like a series a waves. Then at the left you may notice a screw painted in red.
Hlaf of the screw serves to release the strange ring, while the other half to lock it. After you turn the screw for the release position you can rotate the flat and strange ring less than half, and according to the need, but not more than half a turn. This will soften the speed ring.

The key for all these is to give a very good look to the red painted screw, with a magnifier glass.

Again, all these from my far memory.
Cheers,
Ruben

Thanks Ruben. That should be enough. My Lynx is in the shops for repair as I broke the speed ring but would love to know everything about the camera. Meanwhile I am already shooting an electro 35 hehe.
