Solar Eclipse!

U41336I1503348926.SEQ.0.jpg

Taken with my iphone 3 through my home made telescope and solar filter , Peter

Brilliant solution!

I hope the resolution that works with the Forum gives good image. The photo was taken with a Nikon D5, 400mm f2.8 Nikkor at f4.0, Nikon 2x teleconverter and 2x crop in Photoshop. No other processing in PS from the raw file.

^^^ Thanks Raid , it's been so long since I used it last , that I found out my only eyepiece adapter was for a camera I no longer own ! So nothing on film (but I'm sure I'd have spent too long screwing around with the camera and would've missed most of the eclipse ) . Peter

Corvallis, OR. Lucked out and clouds were absent. Used my Nikon D700 and a Sigma 400/5.6. All went well except for the fact I couldn't find the cable release! Ugh. Images came out....acceptable in some cases. Not acceptable in others. All due to camera motion because I had to press the button with my finger.

But. What An Experience! The family is planning for the next. Texas 2024 perhaps?

I left the telephoto stuff to my hubby and took photos of the folks who were in the little turn-off where we watched it.

The coolest thing? My best friend from kindergarten, Pat Pink, was there. We haven't seen each other in over forty years!!!

Very well done!

From near Hillsboro, MO (ground zero!)

Early Eclipse, about 20 minutes in:

The sky was actually darker than that. Autoexposure made it lighter. It wasn't totally dark, though. It was like dusk. There was still enough light to walk.

No longer in the US...but the whole country seems to have gone crazy for this. I'm indifferent.

Momentous event (?)

Momentous event (?)

Our ancestors may have sacrificed some virgins to make the sun return.
Today I slept through it. Maybe I'll catch the next one. ;)
