something i have not done in awhile.

a few months ago my old boss offered me a chunk of wall at work if i wanted to hang some photos.
i ended up hanging 8 prints and still have room for another 10 or so.

anyway, folks pass by them everyday and i get the odd comment about them still.

long story short, some people have been asking me about buying them and today i sold 6 small prints.

i may need to clean up / find some web gallery space so folks have a place to view more pics for a better selection.

Excellent! That's great, Joe. Really, you should keep at it. Sometimes things come to you when you least expect them. Like (ahem) some important things, there are (heh) things that just come your way when you don't seek them.

I've tried selling prints, but haven't really known how to go about it. I've only sold three prints ever. Ever. I've given away a couple dozen to people I care about or who I think really deserved it (at least for putting up with my photoharassment).

If I were closer I'd help you with the scanning/cleaning stuff; I like doing that sort of stuff, although I go bezerk with my own.

something you'd like to tell us gabriel?

afa selling prints, i used to do lots. i had a small studio and did very informal portrait work, lots of interesting stuff ranging from family groupings to rock groups to nudes. it was great fun. but then i decided to be an 'artist' and just do 'street' work and the selling sorta ended.
but these prints i just sold were all street shots.

there is hope...

Congratulations Joe! You must feel wonderful. Do you have any of the prints that you sold scanned? May we see?

from the whyte ave album...
'side door' & 'sky'

from the general album...
'church steps' & 'fence 1'

from the farmer's market album..
'can you see me'

and from the main page...
'foggy walk'

Congratulations, Joe. I am happy when someone gets a break of any kind. It's a nice validation of all the time spent thinking about this weird hobby/obsession we all have.

I'll drink to ya! :)

thanks guys!

we do get sorta obsessed, eh francisco?
(i laughed when i read that you asked jorge if his new lens was black or silver)

lol, no; I was going to use "mushy" words and I just opted to cough :p

The selling sorta ended? Well, that's just bass ackwards, Joe! ;)

I'll need to confiscate all your lenses so you get back from those streets and shoot some nudes. It's a win-win! :D

Well... I guess one can laugh at that silly question. :)

Only it happens that yesterday I was looking at those lenses in the ZI website, and I drooled over a Biogon 21, only to hear myself saying "what would look cooler, a black or a silver lens?"

Ain't we a bit obsessed?

Heck, it's good when one of us sells a print! Good job!
