Agfa APX100 120 always has a solvent smell to me...maybe the backing 'paper' isn't all paper.

Dad used to use Agfa in his Minox, and I remember that it had a very distinct aroma. I have found all films have this to a degree. My brother says he can tell you what kind of film it is just by smelling. Tests have proven him quite accurate.
I have never known the outgassing (I'm sure that's what it is) to coat lenses or hurt anything. In the small body size of a Minox, I'm sure it would show up.
Just enjoy your Agfa film while you can - it's good stuff!
